Backup & Restore service typically protects you from data loss by:
The data is stored on a RAID (Tier 1). In a later stage we will migrate older backups to tape.
Backup & Restore is organized hierarchically. At the institute level, PCs or files are stored/backed up to institute servers. These servers are then backed up via LAN to our facility. SSL encryption is default. Data encryption is possible if desired. We will not back up individual PCs.
We recommend the use of file servers for the institutes. However, if you want to use backup software within your institute you can use e.g. the community version of Bacula for that. We can provide you with some assistance. Just write to us and let us discuss all your options. Institutes without a server infrastructure are also supported. We will help you in every way we can.
For management and performance reasons there are some limits to this service:
How often will data be backed up?
A restore can be undertaken by the user at any time. We can assist you with it if necessary during support hours of our central service desk.
