File transfer

FTP access to computers at the RRZN is explicitly not allowed.  One can transfer data to these computers only via the Secure Shell and tools using this technology.  The one exception is the university archive server uqfs.

Connection attempts via FTP can fail with the following error message:

Connected to zen.rrzn.uni-hannover.de

421 Service not available, remote server has closed connection

The following tools using SSH for file transfer are offered at the RRZN:

• scp (Secure Copy)
• sftp and lftp (Secure File Transfer)
• SSH Windows Client

The above mentioned tools are available on computers at the RRZN.
