Access to the RRZN compute servers
Applying for projects and usernames (accounts)
To be able to work on the RRZN compute servers one requires a valid username. Usernames can be applied for only as a part of a so-called "project". A project is framework in which your are able to work on the compute servers. One provides a short description of what is to be done in the projects: if the work is to do with Masters or PhD research, or general work at an institute etc.
Please note: project applications and applications for accounts on the RRZN compute servers can only be made by employees of the university, who have the relevant signing rights. Accounts for students can only be created within the framework of a project and with the consent of the relevant institute.

Administration of projects and usernames
With the relevant privileges it is possible for one to set the end date of a project, to disable or enable accounts within your project, etc.

Logging in to the login servers
It is only possible to work interactively on the login servers (Orac and Avon) or on the workstation in the terminal room at the RRZN (sarge). If you wish to log on from your own computer please note that we only allow secure protocols such as ssh.
